Rep. Louis Gohment plans to run for Speaker of the House

Oh, just look him up. I don't even know where to begin on the absurdity of this one. One quote will have to do:

“I talked to a retired FBI agent who said that one of the things they were looking at were terrorist cells overseas who had figured out how to game our system. And it appeared they would have young women, who became pregnant, would get them into the United States to have a baby,” said Gohmert. “They wouldn’t even have to pay anything for the baby. And then they would turn back where they could be raised and coddled as future terrorists. And then one day, twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life. ‘Cause they figured out how stupid we are being in this country to allow our enemies to game our system, hurt our economy, get set up in a position to destroy our way of life."

I don't need to point out that Mr. Gohmert represents to the nth degree what is already happening in this country because we "allow our enemies to game our system, hurt our economy, get set up in a position to destroy our way of life."

  2. My mother, gods preserve her, lives in his district. And because it is East Texas and she is a Republican, I am sure she votes for him. Like many folks of her age and background, she pays little attention to most political issues and just votes the party line. She told me she votes for Ted Cruz although she doesn't like him, but at least he's not a baby-killing Democrat. When I suggest that he supports many policies that are deadly for lots of babies and other people, she ignores me.
