Not a joke

On November 30, 2014 an allegedly intoxicated Dwayne Fenlason, 48, drove his pickup truck into a ditch in Pomfret, Vermont, bringing a DUI citation -- and then subsequently drove an SUV to the scene to pull the truck out (earning a second DUI), and then an all-terrain vehicle to the scene (and a third DUI).

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 32,719 people died in traffic crashes in 2013 in the United States (latest figures available), including an estimated 10,076 people who died in drunk driving crashes, accounting for 31% of all traffic deaths that year.

The good news is that efforts to fight drunk driving have resulted in a 52 % decrease in deaths due to drunk driving since 1982 when the NHTSA started keeping records of alcohol-related statistics.
